Biographical Sketch
Kerry Wood completed his Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech in August 2006.
The topic of his Ph.D. dissertation was "Directional Communications to Improve Multicast Lifetime
in Ad Hoc Networks"
(available
online). His advisor was Dr. Luiz DaSilva. Kerry is now a member of the senior staff of the
Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.
Kerry received his M.S. in Computer Engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in
December, 2002 and his B.S. in Computer Engineering from RPI in December, 1999. Kerry was named
Outstanding TA for 2002 at RPI and is a recipient of the Davenport Fellowship at Virginia Tech. Prior to
graduate school, Kerry worked as a network engineer for Thrupoint Inc., a consulting firm in New York City.
In addition, he held a position at Lockheed Martin as an undergraduate at RPI.
