Biographical Sketch

Malcolm E. Mason, IV is completing his M.S. student in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech while working full-time in Maryland. His research focuses on broadband wireless LANs, with an emphasis on the 802.11 family of protocols. His advisor is Dr. Scott Midkiff.

Malcolm received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech in May 2001. Malcolm received the Patrick C. Faison award at Virginia Tech, was a member of Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu honorary societies, and is a student member of the IEEE.

Prior to attending Virginia Tech, Malcolm was on active duty in the U.S. Navy for 6 years, where he held a Top Secret clearance and was a communications electronics/cryptography technician, and member of the Naval Special Warfare Special Boat Units as a combat craft crew member. Malcolm's hobbies include most sports and outdoor activities, weightlifting, and playing guitar. Malcolm plays rugby with the Blacksburg Rugby Football club and is a member of a local band.
