Biographical Sketch

Sastry Kompella completed his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech in July 2006. His dissertation is on "Video Communications over Dynamic Ad Hoc Networks" (available online). His advisor was Dr. Thomas Hou. Dr. Kompella is now working at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC.

Sastry received his M.S. in Electrical Engineering degree from Texas Tech University in May 1998 and his B.S. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Andhra University, India in May 1996. Sastry received the TTU Competitive Scholarship in 1996 and 1997 and the Outstanding Bachelors Student Award (Gold Medal) in 1996. Prior to pursuing his PhD, Sastry worked as a Project Applications Engineer for 5 years at Symtx Inc., in Austin, Texas. His work experience includes building Automated Test Equipment (ATE) for telephony, Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) modems, cellular telephony, and Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) devices.
