Biographical Sketch

Song Hun Kim is currently working for Samsung in Korea. He completed his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering in November 2002 at Virginia Tech under the direction of Dr. William H. Tranter. His research at Virginia Tech focused on the simulation of physical layer communication systems using reconfigurable hardware and on the design of a middleware for a distributed reconfigurable simulator. His Ph.D. dissertation was on "Distributed Reconfigurable Simulation for Communication Systems" (available online).

Song received his M.S. in Electrical Engineering degree from Virginia Tech in May 1997 and his B.S. in Computer and Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in May 1995. Song received the Kodak Scholarship, Rensselaer Scholarship, and Rickett Prize for academic excellence at RPI, and was a member of departmental honors program.

He has held summer jobs at Eastman Kodak Company, Dacom Communications, Samsung Electronics, and Lucent Technologies.
