Biographical Sketch

Felicia Doswell completed her Ph.D. in Computer Science at Virginia Tech in August 2005. Her dissertatation was on "Improving Network Performance and Document Dissemination by Enhancing Cache Consistency on the Web Using Proxy and Server Negotiation" (available online to Virginia Tech users). Her advisor was Dr. Marc Abrams while he was with Virginia Tech. Dr. Scott Midkiff was her advisor during the final phase of her Ph.D. program. She is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at Norfolk State University.

Felicia received her M.S. in Computer Science from Georgia Tech in September 1991 and her B.S. in Computer Science from Norfolk State University (NSU) in May 1990. Felicia received the DNIMAS Scholarship at NSU, was a member of Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society and Beta Kappa Chi Honor Society honorary societies and was vice-president of the NSU ACM student branch. She received the AT&T OYOC Scholarship to attend Georgia Tech.

Prior to pursuing her Ph.D., Felicia worked in the computer science industry at AT&T Bell Laboratories and Nortel. Her hobbies include aerobic dance, and reading.
