How to Participate in IREAN

At present, we do not anticipate being able to fund any new IREAN Fellows from current NSF IGERT
funding. We do welcome qualified Associated Students.
- To be an IREAN Fellow you must...
- Be enthusiastic about technical, business, and/or policy aspects of advanced networking;
- Be committed to actively contributing to and learning in a collaborative, multidisciplinary community;
- Be accepted by a suitable Ph.D. program (or, in special cases, an M.S. program with a commitment to continue for a Ph.D.) at Virginia Tech;
- Be a US citizen or permanent resident;
- Be nominated by your advisor through a letter of recommendation to the IREAN Governing Board;
- Submit a resume and a statement of purpose that indicates your research and career interests and your motivation to participate in the IREAN program;
- Be approved by the IREAN Governing Board; and
- Once accepted, maintain satisfactory progress toward degree.
