Introduction

This web site describes a 3-credit senior/masters level course on wireless and mobile system design developed and taught at Virginia Tech. The course is innovative in that it is multidisciplinary (across computer science, computer engineering, and electrical engineering), integrates topics from all protocol layers for wireless and mobile systems (from wireless physical layer constraints through mobile application design), and utilizes a pedagogy based on student-centered discovery (through hands-on laboratories and exercises and design projects). The course was made possible through a generous donation by the Intel Corporation through a "Wireless Curriculum Development and Instructional Laboratory" grant. The course was first taught in Spring 2003 as ECE/CS 4984 at Virginia Tech's Blacksburg campus and at Virginia Tech's Northern Virginia Center in Falls Church, Virginia. Follow the links below for information about the class and course material. Contact Scott Midkiff, Luiz DaSilva, or Ing-Ray Chen for additional information.

This site is currently under construction. It is expected to fully populated by September 1, 2003.
